Community Connections Volunteer Handbook

Our Community Connections program invites everyone to get involved in giving newcomers to our region a warm community hug, and this handbook has been developed to guide volunteers as they get started.

EMPP - Growing community with immigration

Learn how we are growing our community through immigration. As a rural region, retention is key to talent attraction. When newcomers feel that they are part of a community and choose to stay and build their futures, that is what successful recruitment looks like.

Refugee sponsorship groups welcome EMPP

Discover how our community-based approach to settlement and integration was an important part of our 2019 Pictou County Labour Mobility Pilot.

Our community-driven model was made possible with support from incredible partners like Pictou County Safe Harbour, a local refugee sponsorship group. Their dedication to welcoming our first Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot (EMPP) arrivals brought warmth, compassion, and a true sense of belonging to our community.

Join us in celebrating their impactful work and learn how you can be part of creating a more inclusive, welcoming Pictou County.
